feeling reflective...and sad :(

There's been a lot of sad things happening, on various scales of sadness. I've been really freaked out by the Spanair plane crash in Madrid , which rattles me somewhat because I've flown that airline and been in that airport, more than once. That's probably really silly, to be freaked out by that, but I am. It could've happened months ago and I could have been there...

I don't know.

Closer to home, there was
a shooting at a school in Knoxville, apparently for once NOT a random act of violence but an intended act of violence, one kid against another... and not too long after a guy stormed into a church there and shot a bunch of people. Knoxville's still very fragile, for obvious reasons...

These last two are nowhere near the scale of the first two, but still hit my mind as highly annoying. The first one is a sad day on the Harry Potter front, as they are pushing back the release of the Half Blood Prince to stinking July 17th, 2009. I just don't get it, because they have already released previews and already got us all excited, and the pulled it right out from in under us. I'm really angry, and if it were anything else I'd be pissed off enough to boycott the movie alltogether, except, who boycotts a Potter film?? Well, I guess these people do, oh, these people too... way to piss off a massive Fandom, Warner Bros. Seriously.

The last bit of icing lately is the fact that they are making a reality show just a county over from where I live. Called Outsider's Inn, it's about a bed and breakfast ran out in the sticks and it supposedly is really, really stereotypical of Southern people. As someone who lives right next door, I'm pretty angry about the portrayal of such a stereotype. But, also, I know that in some ways some of those stereotypes ARE true...lol. But it really upsets me that Tennessee's hit the television in such a bad way.

Okay. I guess that's the end of the rant.

on the second try...

So after last night's entry and posting my first squash, I tried again.
And I still got squash! I guess I just have squash on the brain. :) I've decided to name these guys Buttercup and Hubbard (Buttercup's the short, plump one...) and put them on sale on
Etsy. They are $10 for the pair, as after taking this picture I couldn't bring myself to seperate them...and can be seen by clicking the title of this entry or by clicking here.

If you want one of your own, and only one, I can make one special squash just for you. Just convo me and we'll get squashing!

I like Veggies...

I'm trying to get better about blogging about some of the stuff I'm working on, as I work on it, versus after it's finished and already on Etsy. In a harvest frame of mind, I've been thinking about pumpkins and squash. This was my first pumpkin, but he decided he was a squash instead. :)

I just finished this little guy and wanted to share. Look over the picture, it's late and the best I can do. :)

because I love Garfield...

...I am slightly upset by and then amused by this concept at the same time.

I mean, it's Garfield, but without Garfield. What the hell? Called Garfield Minus Garfield this webcomic only features Jon...and eliminates everything else.

This one's quite funny...

when life gives you lemons...

make lemonade and then cry about it?? Because that's seriously what I feel like doing...

I don't really want to whine through an entire blog entry about how much workplace drama makes me want to sit and cry...but I really want some advice, or some feedback, or at least a public place to admit that I am 1)a pushover and 2)a doormat.

To make a long story shorter the entire episode is over me doing something at work that a coworker felt was her place to do. Only one of us were there, so she got sent somewhere else, and as a natural, logical response, is now mad at me over it. It wouldn't bug me so much except this person is someone i considered a work friend, and now I've basically been agonizing over it since it happened last week. To the point where I'm even thinking about trying to fix it tomorrow at work, when I didn't break it to start with. Thus me being a doormat.

On a more fun note, I made a meal yesterday that was so pretty I decided to take pictures of it to share with the world! This is my meatloaf baking bag, with potatoes, bell peppers, and green onions. No lemons :) It was yummy!
